Bowl with the Boosters!

FLSBC's next fundraiser will be a day-long bowling event at Grand Prix bowling_pin.gifNew York on Saturday, January 28, 2012. The Boosters will be the first group to occupy all of Grand Prix's 19 brand-new lanes for a whole day. The euphonious Voodoo Carnival will provide the musical entertainment.

Proceeds from the event will fund two 2012 scholarships for senior athletes and support Fox Lane field renovations.

The event will include three sessions:

  • A morning session for young bowlers and their parents, followed by a buffet lunch of chicken fingers, sliders, fries and drinks;
  • An afternoon session for middle- and high-school bowlers, including the buffet lunch; and
  • Two adult-only bowling sessions starting in the late-afternoon and continuing into the wee hours, including dinner, libations and a silent auction.

All participants will receive shirts (t-shirts for the kids and bowling shirts for the adults). Non-bowling adults are welcome to watch and join us for dinner.

Participation is limited. Click here to register online, or click here to download a registration form to mail in.

2011-12 Membership Drive in Full Swing

The start of the school year signaled the beginning of our 2011-12 membership renewal campaign. The importance of annual renewals as a revenue source can't be stressed enough. Last fall we were able to roll out the first phase of the Fox Lane Middle School Athletic Field project because of the liquidity that membership revenues provided.

We try to limit the number of fundraising events and rely primarily on the $50 minimum membership contributions to spread the cost over as large a group as possible. We need greater participation by the elementary-school population, and that effort is underway.

More than 100 first-year members did not renew in 2010-11. While supplies last, these former members and renewing or first-time members joining for the 2011-12 fiscal year will receive the current red 2010-11 Fox magnet plus the new 2011-12 magnet. Historically, more than one‑third of membership donors have contributed more than the $50 minimum, and since last fall 17 have renewed or converted their memberships to a "Lifetime" basis for $500.

Third Annual Golf Outing Drives the Green

FLSBC held its 3rd Annual Golf Outing last May, followed by dinner and a lively auction at Mount Kisco Country Club. Despite a rainy day, a great time was had by all, and we raised more than $50,000 to support the Bedford Central School District athletic programs and facilities.

All golf slots were sold out a month before the event, and 60+ other supporters joined us for a sumptuous dinner. The 65 auction items and numerous raffle prizes were provided by 75 donors and 40 individuals and families. Local companies sponsoring holes on the course included two major commercial sponsors, Mt. Kisco Honda and MTC Limousine.

Roger Stern celebrates as his tee-shot sails over the lake and onto the 9th green.

The Boosters thank all players, diners, sponsors, donors and volunteers for making it a great day and night.
